Abundant (Green) Life
We may have not felt a drop of rain in the nearly four months since we've been here, but with a little help from the nearby lakes, it is amazing what is able to grow here in the Vaca Valley. Jon and I enjoy growing our own herbs (in the front of our house and in our garden), veggies (fall veggies include sugar peas, spinach, lettuce, and broccoli), and, as all true Californians do, our own fruits too. We have two dwarf trees--a grapefruit and a kumquat tree. We are quite excited about these two little guys--they already have fruit! That never ceases to amaze us...Here are a few pictures from around the house. Enjoy!

The Grapefruit tree and its one grapefruit.

The kumquat tree and its many kumquats.

The garden...soon after fall planting. More pictures to come closer to harvest.

Although we didn't grow these mini bananas, they were too cute not to share!

The herb garden in the front yard.

The morning glory vine that has overtaken the cedar tree in our front yard...we don't mind it so much. The flowers are beautiful and they attract many hummingbirds.
